Knowledgebase & FAQ

Search our comprehensive list of frequently asked questions to learn more about music distribution, metadata rules, payouts, and takedowns.

1. Account & Verification

How do I verify my Artist or Label profile?

To finalize account verification and begin uploading, you must download the verification agreement format from the Portal, sign it, and upload it back. Only agreements executed on your official artist or label letterhead are accepted.

Can I use the same signed agreement for multiple labels?

No. You must submit and sign a separate verification agreement for each new Label registered under your account before distributing music on behalf of that Label.

What document formats are accepted for profile verification?

We accept signed agreements in PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, JPEG, and PNG formats. The maximum file size allowed is 5MB.

Can I distribute music before my profile is verified?

No. Your backstage account features will remain locked until our copyright compliance team manually reviews and approves your signed agreement and profile details.

How long does the account verification process take?

Typically, profile and verification reviews are completed within 3 to 5 business days after submission.

What should I do if my verification agreement is rejected?

If rejected, check the compliance notes in your Backstage dashboard. Rejections are usually due to using an unofficial letterhead, bad photo quality, or mismatched legal names.

2. Audio & Artwork Guidelines

What audio formats do you allow for uploads?

We allow three main audio formats: WAV, FLAC, and AAC files. Other formats like MP3 or WMA are not accepted for distribution.

What is the maximum file size for track uploads?

The maximum file size limit for each audio track uploaded via our backstage dashboard is 100MB.

What are the artwork dimensions and format rules?

Artwork must be a perfect square, minimum 3000 x 3000 pixels (up to 5000 x 5000 pixels), PNG or JPEG format, and in RGB color mode. CMYK artworks are automatically rejected.

Can my artwork contain contact information or release dates?

No. Cover artwork must not contain phone numbers, website links, social media handles, release dates, barcodes, pricing, or streaming service logo badges.

Can I use generic or stock images for my cover art?

You can use stock photos provided you own a commercial license for them. Using copyrighted images or trademarked logos of other brands without authorization will result in release rejection.

Can I upload instrumental or karaoke tracks?

Original instrumental tracks are welcome. However, literal karaoke covers or sound-alikes of existing pop songs will be rejected due to copyright guidelines.

Do you allow audiobooks or sound effect collections?

No. We exclusively distribute commercial musical works. Audiobooks, ambient sound effects, podcasts, and spoken-word non-musical recordings are not supported.

3. Ingestion & Release Operations

How fast does my music go live in stores?

We process and deliver approved tracks to platforms within 24 to 48 hours. Most major platforms list the music live within 3 days, while others might require up to a week.

How far in advance should I schedule my release?

We recommend scheduling your releases at least 14 days in advance. This ensures plenty of time for QA clearance and guarantees eligibility to pitch your track to Spotify editors.

Are ISRC and UPC codes free?

Yes. Akhra Digital automatically generates unique ISRC (for tracks) and UPC (for releases) codes completely free of charge when you submit a new release.

Can I use my own pre-existing ISRC and UPC codes?

Yes. If you are migrating your catalog from another distributor, you can enter your existing UPC and ISRC codes in the metadata fields to keep your stream counts intact.

Which major streaming platforms do you distribute to?

We deliver to over 150+ digital platforms globally, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, Deezer, Tidal, and Tencent.

Can I choose which countries my music is available in?

Yes. During submission on the Backstage panel, you can choose worldwide distribution or select/deselect specific territories and geographical regions.

4. Royalties & Payouts

Is there a distribution commission or royalty cut?

No. We operate a 100% free distribution service. You keep 100% of all streaming and download revenues collected by stores for your catalog.

How often are royalty reports updated?

Royalty reports are compiled and updated monthly. Most DSPs report earnings on a 60-to-90-day delay cycle (e.g. streaming earnings for January show up in late March or April).

What is the minimum withdrawal threshold?

The minimum balance required to request a payout from your backstage balance is $10 USD (or the equivalent local currency value).

Which payment methods do you support for withdrawals?

We support secure payments through Bank Transfers (NEFT, RTGS, IMPS for Indian artists) and PayPal for global artists.

Are there transaction fees for withdrawing money?

While Akhra Digital charges no fees, nominal processing fees charged by bank networks or PayPal for international routing may apply to payouts.

Can I set up split payouts for co-writers and producers?

Currently, the backstage account holder receives all payments. You are responsible for distributing shares to your co-writers and producers according to your split sheet agreements.

5. Takedowns & Catalog Management

Can I request a takedown of my music?

Yes. You can request a catalog takedown directly from your Backstage dashboard. We process takedowns and notify stores within 48 hours.

Is there a takedown fee?

A Takedown Fee applies if you request to remove or transfer a track within one (1) year of its upload date. Takedown requests for tracks live for longer than one year are completely free.

How long does it take for a track to be removed from stores?

Once we deliver the takedown command, most DSPs remove the audio within 5 to 10 business days.

Will I still receive royalties after my music is taken down?

Yes. Any royalties generated during the months your music was active in stores will still be reported and credited to your account ledger during subsequent monthly reports.

Can I edit the metadata of a release that is already live?

Yes. Metadata corrections (like correcting typos or spelling) can be requested through the Portal. Changes are synced across platforms automatically without taking the track down.

6. Fraud & Compliance

What is artificial streaming?

Artificial streaming is generating streams through non-natural means. This includes using bots, click farms, loop programs, stream-for-stream networks, or paying for playlist placements that guarantee stream numbers.

What happens if my account is flagged for artificial streaming?

Accounts flagged for artificial streaming are suspended immediately. The catalog is removed from all stores, and all pending and accumulated royalties are permanently forfeited.

What is your policy on copyright infringement and strikes?

Uploading music or cover art that you do not own the full rights to is prohibited. If we receive a copyright claim (DMCA notice) against your release, it will be taken down, and multiple strikes will lead to account termination.

Can I distribute remixes or mashups?

Only if you have an official remix license or written agreement signed by the original copyright owners. Bootleg remixes and unauthorized mashups will be rejected.

Do you allow the use of royalty-free loops or samples?

Yes, but you must ensure you have valid licenses for all assets. However, creating tracks using purely unedited stock loops is prohibited, as it leads to content ownership conflicts on digital stores.

7. Content ID & Rights Management

Do you provide YouTube Content ID?

Yes. We offer YouTube Content ID monetization to claim revenues from videos that use your sound recordings. Tracks using public domain loops or stock samples are not eligible.

How do I monetize my music on TikTok and Facebook/Instagram?

During submission, opt-in for social monetization platforms. We will deliver your tracks to the TikTok sound library and Meta Rights Manager so users can use your music in Reels/videos.

How do I verify my artist profile on Spotify or Apple Music?

Once your first release goes live, you can log in to Spotify for Artists or Apple Music for Artists and search for your profile to claim verification status and receive your verified checkmark badge.
